School Leadership

Tamika Askew Fleming was born in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Waverly Askew and Richard Askew (Carolyn).
She moved to Dothan, Alabama during her high school years. She graduated from Northview High School in 1991 and attended Stillman College majoring in Elementary Education. She transferred to Troy State University and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
She began her teaching career in Henry County Schools and enjoyed her tenure there. She accepted a teaching job in the community she lives in and has been employed with the Dothan City School District since. She has taught fourth grade, second grade and first grade. After a few years of teaching, she decided to challenge herself and enrolled in Troy University to begin her Masters in Educational Leadership.
She was an assistant principal for five years and a principal for thirteen years. She has led two schools where she was a former teacher.
She truly enjoys serving her students, teachers and families. She also enjoys teaching her students and planning instruction with her teachers. You can find her serving in different capacities within the building, wherever she is needed. She develops a learning environment that encourages open communication with colleagues, students and the school community.
She is married to Janasky, her high school and college sweetheart (educator), they have two children Jaelin, a Troy University graduate (educator) and Jalia, a college student majoring in nursing.
